About Us

In 2007, New Milestone was created with the mission of providing preschoolers with a safe, nurturing environment in which to grow and learn. Our program incorporates all content areas including; Art, Music, Science, Math, Social Studies, in addition to Social Emotional components. All areas are adapted and modified to meet each child's individual needs. We believe that the child's greatest tool in the creation of self is their play. Through play, children are able to actively explore, manipulate, investigate, interact, create, discover and take risks. Children are endowed with a natural curiosity about their world. With the manipulation of concrete materials, children can develop new understandings about their environment, relationships with others, as well as their experiences.

Philosophy

New Milestone Preschool works to create an environment that promotes self-esteem, self-confidence, self-sufficiency, and self-expression. Children will be provided with many opportunities to socialize and develop their expressive language. As schools based in the Reggio Emilias' train of thought, New Milestone views each child as the main character and contributor. Their primary role is that of communicator by verbalizing, using affect (facial expressions) and/or utilizing symbolic representation i.e. painting, sculpting, dramatic play, movement and music. We consider our environment as a fourth teacher, encouraging children to become aware of space, organization as well as aesthetics. Your role as the parent is that of partner. Furthermore, each teaching team's role is one of researcher and documenter.
