Teacher Qualifications

Head Teacher

Our head teachers are hand selected based on their educational backgrounds and experiences, credentials, and their passion for educating children. All teachers have either completed or are working towards their NYS certification, which includes a Master's Degree or pursuing a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, completion of education workshops and corresponding exams. Teachers take part in continuing education workshops that are age appropriate for the children in their care.

Assistant Teacher

Our assistant teachers are also hand selected based on their educational backgrounds and experiences, credentials and their passion for educating children. Most of our assistant teachers are pursuing a degree in childhood education. Assistant teacher requirements include a minimum of 2 years' experience working with children, and the completion of the Assistant Teacher Exam. Assistant teachers also take part in continuing education workshops that are age appropriate for the children in their care.

All staff members must have:

Fingerprint Clearance
Background Check Clearance
CPR/First Aid Certification
Professional Development

Typical child: Staff ratios are as follows:

Toddlers (2-3 year olds)
6:1 ratio with 12 children maximum and 2 teachers (however, most often there is a 4:1 ratio with a floater assistant)

Preschool (3-4 year olds)
7:1 ratio with 15 children maximum and 2 teachers (often there is a 3rd assistant)

UPK (4-5 year olds)
9:1 ratio with 18 children maximum and 2 teachers
